A proud lifetime Arizona resident, Adrian Fontes is a strong fighter for his fellow Arizonans and their civil rights. Adrian grew up in Nogales, Arizona, and his family has deep ties to the Southern Arizona community. He went on to earn degrees at Arizona State University and University of Denver to practice law. Over his career, he worked as a prosecutor with the Denver District Attorney's Office, Maricopa County Attorney's Office and the Arizona Attorney General's Office, and as an attorney in private practice.

Adrian’s life of service began early, when he joined the United States Marine Corps. He served in active duty from 1992 to 1996, and was nominated for a meritorious commission. Adrian’s service to his country taught him the importance of dedication, discipline, and sacrifice. He forcefully fought for the American dream, and continues to hold these values close today.

With a life dedicated to public service, it was only a matter of time before Adrian Fontes entered elected office. In 2016, after Maricopa County’s disastrous presidential preference election, Adrian entered the race for Maricopa County Recorder – and WON. He was the first Democrat elected to that office in over 50 years. After losing reelection in 2020, Adrian set his sights higher; getting elected Secretary of State in 2022. For the last four years, he has been a fighter for us and our voting rights.

Now, it’s time to re-elect Secretary of State Fontes for four more years.

As Secretary of State, Adrian Fontes has always put Arizonans first. He has a bipartisan record that has shown meaningful change for voters in every corner of our great state. To promote election transparency, he expanded the BallotTrax program across the state. This has allowed mail-in voters to see the status of their ballot from mailbox to tabulation. Additionally, Secretary Fontes has been a strong partner and advocate for small businesses and startups through efficient, responsive public services. He has stood up to the Trump administration’s attacks on our voting rights time and time again, protecting mail-in voting and our sensitive information from federal government overreach.

Adrian Fontes has been an especially strong supporter of first-time and young voters.

As Secretary of State and Maricopa County Recorder, he:

  • Teamed-up with Arizona’s public universities for a College Football-themed BallotTrax PSA.

  • Released a publicly available, three-part educational video series for high school students and future young voters.

  • Piloted vote centers in Maricopa County, allowing people to vote at any polling location within the county, regardless of precinct.

Adrian continues to stay focused on the duties of Secretary of State, and is not motivated by a partisan agenda. He knows the importance of the office, and will continue to do all he can to preserve the sanctity of our democracy. Alongside Governor Hobbs and Attorney General Mayes, Secretary Fontes will be able to accomplish even more for voters and citizens across the state in his next four years. It really is a no-brainer. Adrian Fontes is the only candidate for Secretary of State committed to protecting our free and fair elections in Arizona. His priorities are clear and they will keep our rights protected from federal attacks.
