An extremely accomplished product of all that Arizona has to offer, Kris Mayes is a staunch advocate for the rights and protections of her fellow Arizonans. Kris was born and raised in Prescott, Arizona, attending Prescott High School, then continuing on to earn degrees at Arizona State University and Columbia University. She is a decorated Sun Devil, having served as editor in chief of the State Press and graduating valedictorian with a bachelors in political science. After a career as a reporter, Kris returned to graduate magna cum laude from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU.

Kris is the second woman and first mom to serve as Arizona’s Attorney General. She grew up on a tree farm in Prescott, attending public schools with her brother and sister. Her mom was a teacher and her dad worked as a pharmacist. The values instilled in her during childhood have guided her life as a public servant and attorney, standing up for our democracy and consumer protection.

Her life in politics began early, serving as Janet Napolitano’s campaign press secretary during the 2002 General Election. In 2003, she was appointed by then Governor Napolitano to the Arizona Corporation Commission, which oversees public service companies, business filings, and financial safety. She was elected to a full term in a 2004 special election and reelected in 2006. As a commissioner and Chair, her leadership created thousands of well-paying jobs, saved Arizona consumers billions of dollars, and required our utility companies to invest in clean energy. She quickly recognized the threats to our water resources, and worked to protect them while a commissioner. Kris was a registered Republican until 2019, becoming a Democrat after growing increasingly opposed to the MAGA movement, election denial claims, and threats to our democracy. In 2022, she was narrowly elected Attorney General of Arizona.

Landslide Mayes only won by 280 votes in 2022, and it’s time we elect her by an even wider margin in 2026.

As Attorney General, Kris Mayes has continuously fought for the rights of consumers. In office, she has stopped scammers, fought the Fentanyl crisis and the Mexican drug cartels, and combatted elder abuse and fraud. She’s not afraid to take on the greedy corporations that have been unfairly monopolizing and illegally raising prices. Kris knows the importance of protecting our limited water resources, and she’s fought for key protections of our groundwater.

Kris Mayes is a strong supporter of students and young people, too!

As Attorney General, she:

  • Sued Meta and secured settlement funds for the harms done to young people on social media.

  • Launched a PSA video contest for students to spread the word about the extreme dangers of fentanyl.

  • Joined attorneys general from across the country to protect Head Start and other early childhood education programs from cuts by the federal government.

Kris has been an extremely impactful Attorney General, and her work isn’t done! She’s kept a watchful eye on the Trump administration, joining attorneys general around the country to sue the administration and federal government 49 times (and counting), in hopes of protecting Arizona consumers and their constitutional rights. Alongside Governor Hobbs and Secretary of State Fontes, Attorney General Mayes has fought to keep our democracy intact in Arizona, securing voting rights for the hundreds of thousands of mail-in voters across the state. It’s an unequivocal choice. Kris Mayes is the only Attorney General candidate with the right priorities in mind: the hardworking people of Arizona!
